Two Former NYCBL Members Shine in Olympic Qualifying Tournament

 

     Two former member of the New York Collegiate League had banner weeks in International play as members of Team USA and Team Canada in the CONCEBE Olympic Qualifying Tournament.  Brendan Harris, an infielder from the Washington Nationals organization and Sebastian Boucher, an outfielder from the Seattle Mariners organization both made impacts on their respective teams.

 

     Harris, who played for the Amsterdam (then Schenectady) Mohawks in 1999, was 6 for 12 while appearing in all five games during Team USAÕs perfect 5-0 week.  His brightest moment came in game three when the Americans were tied with Nicaragua 4-4 in the top of the ninth inning.  Harris launched a go ahead two out, two run homerun to help Team USA enroute to an eventual 7-4 victory.

 

     Boucher, who played for the Plattsburgh Thunder in 2004, led Team Canada with a .667 batting average.  He went 6 for 9 with five RBIs while playing centerfield in two of Team CanadaÕs five games.  Canada went 3-2 during the week.
