2003 Playoffs NYCBL CHAMPIONSHIP
Game One: Amsterdam 10 Hornell 5 Amsterdam used a 7-run 5th inning to take the first game of the Championship Series. Kirt Zimniewicz hit a two-run homer to cap off the 7-run inning. Soren Johnson went the distance for the Mohawks. Game Two: Hornell 9 Amsterdam 7 (10 Innings) Hornell scored three runs in the top of the 10th to even up the series. Brian Scott and Eric Baker led the Dodger hitting attack with three hits apiece. Lefty Dallas Braden picked up the win in the four hour marathon. Game Three: Amsterdam 8 Hornell 0 Craig Soja pitched a one-hitter to seal the 2003 NYCBL Championship for the Mohawks. Soja carried the no-hitter until the 9th when Shane Stover singled to break it up. Amsterdam got all the runs they needed in the 1st inning. Game One 7/23: Hornell 2 Geneva 0 Dallas Braden struck out 13 as the Dodgers scored two runs in the top of the 10th inning to pull out the game one victory. Brian Scott led the Dodger offense with three hits. Brandon Mendola matched zeros with Braden but was the hard luck loser. Game Two 7/24: Hornell 1 Geneva 0 Brad Lightsey threw a complete game shutout to lead the Dodgers to the Western Division Championship for the 2nd year in a row. The Dodgers scored their lone run in the 7th on a single by Kevin Bryant. Mark Messina went the distance for the Red Wings. Eastern Division Finals
Game One 7/23: Amsterdam 2 Watertown 0 Amsterdam's Ryan Tatlock threw a one-hitter to propel the Mohawks to the game one victory. Tom Shanley and Kirt Zimniewicz picked up RBI's for Amsterdam. Watertown's Jason Shone pitched well but was the hard luck loser. Game Two 7/24: Amsterdam 5 Watertown 3 Amsterdam won their 2nd Eastern Division Championship in a row behind a five run third inning. The Wizards made it interesting in the 9th but their last inning rally fell short. Matt Kaltenbach pitched eight shutout innings for the win. |
